Giant Siamese Carp, (Catlocarpio Siamensis) are one of the world's largest freshwater fish species with unconfirmed reports of them growing to weights in excess of 600 lbs.
These beautiful fish are renowned for their power and speed and are generally the number 1 target species for anglers visiting Thailand. As with many other carp species they can be difficult to catch, especially the older and bigger specimens but it certainly is worth the wait. The speed of the initial take and the power of the fight - fishing heaven!

This scale was taken from a Siamese Carp at Bungsamran, thought to be from one of the original stock fish. Unfortunately the fish was found dead in the margins late in 2012, it's estimated weight was 90kg.
