Captain Nick jumps aboard the 'Bullship' and heads 25 miles east of Antigua - with Big John Watt and Toby Fuchs for a hardcore day of deep sea fishing jigging for tuna and chunking for dolphin and big yellowfin tuna.
At least that was the plan.....! 50 plus actual dolphins aka Flipper slowed our sport at the first site and a feeding whale at the second location prompted our final successful move.
A dozen yellowfin, blackfin and skipjack tuna plus the same number of dolphin up to 20lbs in weight were the result of our combined efforts.
Some came from trolling but most tunas came to the jig whilst the chunks drew in the hungry dolphin.
Right at the end of the day, the bite really came on.
In the space of about 10 seconds, Toby's chunk got hit by a big yellowfin and Nick's jig got nailed. A near 100lb yellowfin tuna grabbed the tiny 3.5oz Williamson Benthos jig that Nick had been using to make bait - and was actually clearing the line when the big tuna hit. He eventually tamed the big tuna after a nerve wracking 90 minute fight on medium spinning tackle, having nearly spooled me on the first dive!
