Lake Tarawera is the home of big trouts and a lot of world record trout has been landed form this out standing fishery.The trout feed on abundant Kaora "fresh water crayfish" and their flash very firm and turn to a bright orange shade with a high concentrate of omega fat.It is as good if not better than salmon.The lake is very deep and in the summer the fish have access to cool deep water with plenty of food.Tight line and good health.
