Although it can sometimes be a nuisance if it gets a way into your house, this ant actually eats more than half the aphids off your flowers. It has an odd relationship with the aphid, firstly it protects it whilst it grows, getting honeydew as a reward. Then when the aphid is fully grown, the ants eat them.
