Hows this for a beast Scientists have been given a rare opportunity to examine a 3.5 metre-wide colossal squid previously frozen at the Te Papa Museum in Wellington New Zealand.
The colossal squid, which weighs 350 kilograms and is as long as a minibus, is one of the sea’s most elusive species.
The squid was caught last December in Antarctica on a Sanford fishing boat San Aspiring and had been kept frozen for eight months.
The squid is thought to be only the second intact specimen ever found.
